T-Shaped Talents Are the Hottest!

In this era of rapid technology changes, specialized technological skills are not enough to allow you to scale very high on the ladder to success. Possessing the skills needed to add value through intellectual property rights, for example, would make it very easy for an R&D manager in the biotech industry to map out an R&D strategy that gives his company a competitive edge over their competitors, simultaneously enhancing his own value to his company. An LCD tester who also has a keen eye for the market doesn't have to worry about promotions because he understands market needs. The work performance of a IC design engineer that is also a creative thinker is bound to outshine his peers. By adding the five innovation competencies, that is creative thinking, industrial analysis, R&D management, IP management, and business development, to their repertoire of skills through extra learning, technical specialists can make themselves invaluable to their companies. These mutually beneficial abilities will also help them become highly competitive "T-shaped talents" who will one day navigate their business. The programs in ITRI College's Innovation Competencies and Technology Domains can provide you with the interdisciplinary knowledge and skills you need, while effectively equipping you with innovation abilities. No individual in the workplace should miss this opportunity to quickly increase their personal value.

What's more, as part of a world-class research institution, ITRI College is able to bring in such global knowledge resources that its instructors are not those who you would normally find teaching in other educational institutes. It is only because of invitations and endorsement by ITRI that the industries of Taiwan have had the opportunity to learn at the feet of these distinguished experts and scholars from around the world. Over the past three years, numbers of renowned experts from around the world in the fields of design, technology, management , e- learning, and human resource development have shared their invaluable experiences with audiences in Taiwan at the request of ITRI College, enabling industries in Taiwan to stay abreast of the latest information using the most economical methods available.

As a result of frequent international technology collaborations and its large base of prestigious instructors, ITRI College's learning programs have established a reputation for outstanding teachers and bringing to Taiwan the latest know-how from all around the world. ITRI College has also recommended world-class speakers to give lectures in noted enterprises in Taiwan, such as TSMC, UMC, AU Optronics, and Wintek. Attracted by our solid curriculum, the National Science & Technology Development Agency, a national - level research organization in Thailand, sent 30 top-level R&D managers to ITRI College last year to undergo one week of training in Innovative Research and Development Management.

Competency-based Training—Bringing together technology training and certification
In addition to its in-depth curriculum, built on a foundation of competency requirements for technology professions, ITRI College has incorporated certification into its competency-based training. Based on the professional competencies of technology specialists, ITRI College has developed competency-based certification programs and trained certified seed instructors. These competency models for technology professions also serve as the reference base for corporate training programs.Take the development of the Green Supply Chain Manager course as an example. Taiwan was facing pressures in the form of the latest green certification from the European Union, environmental regulations, and demands for green procurement from large international corporations, so we drew up plans for a Green Supply Chain Manager and Consultant training series to help companies in Taiwan understand environmental laws and regulations around the world in-depth to help them improve their product R& D, design, and production to meet with the regulatory requirements laid down by European Union, thereby clearing away obstacles to maintaining and further developing that market. ITRI College integrated learning and national-level professional certification – an outstanding example of lifetime learning realized.
